The Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Professor Mavis Dako-Gyeke, on the 1st of July 2024 organized the maiden Student-Industry Meeting (SIM) to prepare its students, especially final year students for the world of work.
The event under the theme “Empowering our Students for the World of Work” was held at the Cedi Conference Center, which was filled to capacity with students. Some industry giants who shared their experiences at the first part of the program included the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana, Mr. Stephen Blewett; CEO of McDan Group of Companies, Mr. Daniel McKorley; the Regional Head of HR Ecobank Ghana PLC, Mr. Nixxon Amoah-Awuah and Mrs. Efua Gyekyewaah-Prempeh, Director of Human Resources, Youth Employment Agency. In addition to giving tips on how to excel after school in the world of work, these experts emphasized the importance of the right attitude to being successful at work. Students were encouraged to consciously prepare for opportunities, not to sit on the fence but to be proactive. The talk was followed by an engaging question and answer session.
Subsequent to the morning program, there was a job fair and exhibition, where various companies mounted stands and interacted with students and faculty. For more information please click here:
